What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bridge Program Director position at School on Wheels of Massachusetts?
Reports to: Education Director
Summary: The Bridge Program Director is responsible for providing wrap-around educational services for students impacted by homelessness and poverty who are in high school and beyond and are interested in continuing their education.
The Bridge Program Director works with volunteer mentors to train and pair them with a student to provide advocacy, guidance, application assistance and support services. The Bridge Program Director works to develop partnerships with colleges and vocational programs, as well as other local agencies, to better connect students with local resources to further their goals and advance their education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Supports mentors and students in developing education plans that are realistic and suitable for their specific needs and educational goals.
● Recruit and train mentors for all Bridge Students
● Oversee Mentors to ensure they provide mentoring, support services, and resources for all students so that they are successful in their education.
● Assist high school students with the college search, application and selection process, including researching their options, filling out applications, researching scholarships, filling out FAFSA forms, signing up for SATS and setting up college visits.
● Accompany students to orientations and college tours, set up meetings with administrators, and assist students to purchase college supplies and move into their dorm room.
● Communicate with college students & mentors regularly throughout the semester as well as meet with students at the close of each semester to discuss success and resolve challenges.
● Build Partnerships with local high school and college staff, faculty and advisors in order to recruit students and assist with the transition to a post-secondary institution.
● Manage Student Financial Assistance program which helps fund the cost of school supplies, books, transportation, service trips and other expenses not covered by financial aid for high school and college students.
● Keep meticulous and timely student data in our database program.
● Ability to travel to meet with students and mentors.
● Our service area is in Southeast Massachusetts, Boston and Lowell with a focus on increasing our presence in Lowell and Boston.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
