MA Attorney

Schreiber Law, LLC is a regional consumer collections law firm seeking to hire a full-time Massachusetts attorney to work in its Salem, NH office handling collection matters effective as soon as possible. The primary role for this position is legal document review. Courtroom experience and motion practice handling collection matters is a plus, but not required. The ideal candidate may be newly admitted to the Massachusetts bar, adaptable, confident, patient, organized, computer savvy (proficiency in Excel required), and a team-player.The candidate must also have an eagerness to work in a fast-paced environment, handling a high-volume case load, and be able to take cases from the initial filing through post-judgment.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

• Provide support to non-attorney staff including, but not limited to, research, reviewing pleadings, answering questions, and providing general guidance on collection matters.
• Primarily engage in the litigation and collection of outstanding debts.
• Effectively handle motion practice, attend hearings and conduct trials.
• Work with clients on contested/complex matters and make recommendations to achieve best outcome.
• Work with opposing counsel and pro se defendants to resolve disputes and negotiate settlement agreements.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, and adherence to court procedures and processes.
• Working on special projects/research as needed.

Must Have Qualifications:

• Licensed by the State Bar of Massachusetts (with secondary admission in NH or CT a plus)
• Ability to think creatively, problem solve, and work cooperatively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Strong computer skills and/or experience with case management systems.
• Strong independent work ethic.
• Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework affecting consumer collections (FDCPA, CFPB and state FDCPA) is a plus, but not required. We will train you.,

• Must be willing to travel for court appearances in Massachusetts (and NH if admitted in the state) after the courts reopen for in-court appearances.
