Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited training program with a major in special education;
- A valid certificate to teach Special Education in the State of Pennsylvania;
- Any alternative to the above as the Intermediate Unit Board of Directors may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate data collection and documentation to fully evaluate and substantiate program and pupil progress;
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws, standards, regulations, and policies about the exceptional student;
- Prepare weekly schedules of instructional activities that comply with negotiated teacher contracts;
- Participate in all planning sessions necessary for effective programming and material selection for the transitional program;
- Comply with all policies set forth by school districts and Intermediate Units pertaining to program operation;
- Participate in parent conferences required to prepare IEPs, attend the Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings as necessary as directed by the administration;
- Be responsible for preparing requisitions and inventories required for selecting and maintaining instructional equipment and materials;
- Maintain a continuing self-educational program designed to become acquainted with research, practices, and procedures to maintain the best instructional program for the students;
- Adapt classroom materials when required to meet the needs of the students;
- All other duties as discussed with and assigned by the Director of Special Education and/or their designee
- Collaborate and communicate with parents and staff about the individualist education program plan.
Terms of Employment:
- Ten (10) month year;
- Salary and work year are established by a negotiated agreement between the Intermediate Unit Board of Directors and the Teachers’ Bargaining Unit.
