Position Summary
The person in this position is responsible for all payroll activities including directing the activities of payroll staff and coordinating activities with internal and external auditors. The incumbent will be expected to develop methods for efficient operation and maintenance of the overall integrity of the payroll system
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administers the day to day activities of the payroll department
Understands and adheres to established company policies
Understands and adheres to local, state, and federal regulations
Participates in the evaluation of automated payroll systems
Acts as a liaison with outside payroll service for problem resolution and error correction pertaining to both payroll processing and tax filings
Create reports using ADP Workforce Now Reporting Tools and MS Excel.
Coordinates the distribution of timely reporting to managers, supervisors, and outside state and federal agencies
Upgrades and makes changes to the system as needed
Audits various payroll reports
Remains current on latest technology and regulations
Ensures that the payroll function is completed in an accurate and timely fashion
Works on special payroll related projects as necessary
Qualifications
Qualification Requirements:
Training and/or Experience:
10 years experience in payroll with emphasis on automated payroll systems
5 years of multi-state payroll experience
3 years management experience
ADP Workforce Now payroll experience preferred
ADP eTime experience preferred
Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Familiarity with computerized payroll systems
Thorough knowledge of Federal, State, and Local regulations
Ability to multi-task and work under tight time constraints
Working knowledge of accounting system, auditing concepts and controls as related to the payroll function
Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience
Demonstrated continuing education in payroll and regulatory compliance
Physical Requirements: Office environment
Work Conditions: May require weekend and evening hours. May require travel.
