Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Substitute Teacher to join our team at SCMCAA. As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and social development of our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist and cooperate with teachers in carrying out developmentally appropriate activities for a Head Start classroom.
- Assist with the daily preparation and clean-up of lunches and snacks.
- Monitor children on the playground and accompany teachers and children on field trips.
- Promote health, safety, nutrition, and education of children in the classroom.
- Assist with meal planning and preparation, maintenance of food service areas, and provide meals and snacks to children.
- Assist with safe and punctual transportation to and from classroom sites.
- Observe and monitor behavior of children, interact with parents and staff to promote the well-being of children.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read and understand the Child Abuse and Neglect reporting policy.
- Agree to Standards of Conduct and sign Conduct Agreement.
- Sign Confidentiality Statement.
- Pass background screen, child abuse/neglect screen, drug screen, and be subject to random drug testing.
Working Conditions
The Substitute Teacher will work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of responsibility. The position requires the ability to lift 55 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, buses, and kitchens.
The Substitute Teacher will be expected to maintain a positive and professional attitude, demonstrate emotional maturity, and possess good verbal communication skills and visual ability to observe children.
The position is not exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
