The Laboratory Technologist I performs chemical instrumental testing of raw materials, stability, in-process and finished products. The Laboratory Technologist I also maintains knowledge of processes and products.

Estimated starting annual base salary is $23.16 - $34.75 less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis. Please note that the actual compensation offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined by the Company, which may include, but is not limited to, location, experience, qualifications, education, skillset, and market conditions. The target base compensation for this role is in the low to middle of the range, with the top of the range reserved for only exceptional circumstances. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary, variable annual incentive, paid based on Company performance factors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform chemical testing of raw materials, in-process, and final products.
  • Perform pH, wet chemistry titration, brix, moisture analysis, melting point, density, specific gravity testing or other analytical tests as needed.
  • Set up, calibrate, maintain, and operate lab equipment such as FTIR, spectrophotometer, UPLC, LC-MS/MS, GC and ICP-MS.
  • Perform product analysis based on product needs: Water soluble vitamin analysis, various vitamins, minerals, supplements, colors, blends, flavors, etc.
  • Maintain and update lab methods, work instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist other technologists with in-process-control, sampling, and hold program.
  • Order appropriate material and tools for daily operations.
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice regulations as well as all relevant work instructions and SOPs.

 

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or related field or commensurate combination of education and work experience.
  • Prior laboratory experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, technical, organizational, planning, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified training using relevant instruments or techniques.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
