BestCo is currently searching for a Process Engineering Intern/CO-OP to be located at our Mooresville, North Carolina facility.
Position Summary: Under the direction of process engineering the primary responsibilities are to support production, continuous improvement, and scale-up activities. This position will provide process engineering support primarily by collecting and analyzing data, monitoring processes, implementing changes, and conducting root cause analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates in daily production cadences and troubleshooting of manufacturing processes.
- Supports scale-up activities such as validation, trials, and product transfers.
- Collects data and performs statistical analysis of data with root cause analysis of outliers and sources of variation.
- Create/revise SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), visual job aids, task checklists, and batch records as required.
- Create/revise PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and process descriptions as required.
- Reviews and studies processes to improve or establish yields, cycle times, and quality oriented manufacturing practices.
- Assists process engineers in development and execution of qualification documents for processing equipment (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Conducts or supports bench scale trials in a laboratory environment.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction projects
- Learns the business model, team practices, manufacturing processes, fundamentals of product chemistry, and regulatory environment.
- Provides root cause analysis in the manufacturing deviation investigation process.
- Assists in sourcing equipment required for new projects
- Prepare reports (campaign, monthly, or ad hoc) to keep management informed of work in progress with expected completion dates
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursing Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
