SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Conduct OSHA Training:  Develop and deliver OSHA training programs to individuals in custody, focusing on safety procedures, hazard identification, accident prevention, and emergency response protocols.  Ensure that training materials and programs are up to date and compliant with relevant regulations.

·        Documentation and Reporting:  Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of training sessions and other relevant data.  Prepare reports and documentation for management, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders as required.

·        Administrative Support:  Assist the safety team with administrative tasks, including organizing and maintaining safety related documents, preparing training materials, scheduling training sessions, managing safety related databases, and responding to inquiries from external parties.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in adult education, education, human relations, psychology, social work, or another related field.
  • Must possess current OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer Card; OSHA 500.
  • Proven experience as an OSHA trainer or similar role.
  • Valid certification in hard skills track and ability to train for certification. 
  • OSHA Outreach Trainer certification for the construction industry or general industry.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in a safety related field.
  • Knowledge of or experience in job development, human resources, or employer relations.
  • Experience in workforce development.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation field.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain Department of Corrections clearance and work within the constraints of facility guidelines.  Including lockdowns and personal screenings, this can be changed at the discretion of the Department of Corrections.

RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS

Externally:  Interacts with NYC Department of Corrections and community-based organizations.

Internally:  Interfaces with other service programs as well as business support services.

SKILLS

  • Fluent in English (verbal and written communication skills).
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Ability to effectively communicate safety information to individuals with varying levels of language proficiency.
  • Able to provide training in OSHA 30, Scaffolding, Flagging, Site Safety Training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret safety data and metrics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement effective corrective actions.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and analyze safety risks.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to create and sustain a learning environment in which the safety and welfare of young and vulnerable adults are paramount.
  • High levels of drive, determination, and commitment.
  • Superb skill in Data Analysis, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Excel PPT.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

  • Works within the structure of the City-Based Adolescent & Young Adult programs as it relates to the overall agency organization.
