POSITION TITLE: CT/Imaging Technologist, PRN
Department: Imaging
Reports to: Imaging Supervisor

Mission of Department: Provide safe, high quality diagnostic medical imaging in accordance to practice standards and guidelines with a positive professional attitude according to established facility policy and procedures.
Purpose of Position: Perform quality diagnostic imaging procedures to assist licensed providers in the diagnosis of disease and injuries by performing the following essential functions.
Essential Functions:
CT
- Perform CT procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards. Must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques utilizing immobilization when necessary.
- Post-process data for interpretation per radiologist protocol.
- Perform diagnostic CT procedures utilizing a pressure injector and administering contrast under supervision.
- Perform daily safety warm-up, quality assurance and quality control testing according to established criteria. Evaluate required quality control tests before CT imaging is performed. Initiate procedures only when CT imaging equipment meets quality assurance and quality control requirements, and results are in compliance.
- Follows all radiation dose monitoring guidelines.
- Control inventory of supplies, checks for outdates and disinfects exam rooms and equipment per policy.
- Assist with policy and procedure creation and updating for CT.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
General Imaging
- Ability to work in a stressful environment following direction/instruction from supervisor and Medical Staff. Frequently move/lift between 50-100 pounds, stand for long periods with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling and reaching to prepare equipment, materials or objects in order to provide patient care or maintain the patient environment. Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination required.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Practice within the scope of licensure, comply with federal and state legal and professional requirements.
- Prepare patients for exam by greeting the patient by his/her first and last name, obtaining patient history information necessary to perform or evaluate the procedure, and providing instructions and explanation of the procedure to obtain the best possible image and reduce the patient’s anxiety.
- Prepare area for exam by ensuring the proper equipment and supplies are available before the patient is called to the exam.
- Follow approved radiologist protocols and imaging parameters while delivering quality patient care and ensuring safety.
- Prepare and position patient for diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by provider.
- Move imaging equipment into specified position, determine appropriate exposure factors, adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density and accuracy with proper labeling.
- Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
- Perform a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnoses.
- Perform venipuncture for injections.
- Process images and review for proper identification and quality control.
- Liaison between patients, providers, radiologists and other members of the support team.
- Prepare procedures for interpretation by radiologist.
- Monitor equipment function and report all malfunctions or repairs needed.
- Perform clerical duties including, but not limited to, answering phone, scheduling imaging procedures, obtaining preauthorization when necessary, enter information into company-specific software and documenting information into patient charts, release imaging studies for continuing care according to HIM policy, and order in-house departmental supplies.
- Provide a positive image to customers by creating a friendly atmosphere and placing a high priority on meeting customers’ needs in a timely and courteous manner.

Education, Qualifications, Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program
- Certified by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) in Radiography
- Certified by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) in Computed Tomography (prior CT experience with proficiency acceptable)
- Active Kansas State License
- BLS through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers

Expectation of Service: Hours based on an as needed basis and are not guaranteed. Regular and punctual attendance is required when covering a shift.
Physical Requirements: This position requires continual sitting and typing at a computer terminal, some walking, bending, stooping and lifting of up to 25 pounds.
