The Deputy Auditor/Treasurer provides leadership, vision, and strategy to the Property Taxation Services Department. As well as a
ssists Division and County leaders in taxation department matters relating to County transparency, service delivery, and programs effectiveness. You will plan, direct, coordinate, analyze and evaluate the delivery of services provided by the taxation area and is responsible for the compliance with state law, statutes as well as County policies. Fulfill duties and requirements outlined in MN Statute as directed by the County Auditor/Treasurer. Develop standards, controls, and policies necessary to administer and finance a variety of federal, state, local, and internal programs. Routinely exercise broad latitude for discretion and independent judgment in determining operational needs for the department. Represents the County on matters of significance related to the above listed topics.
The eligible register developed from this posting may be used to fill future FT and PT vacancies within this classification.Manage property tax system calculation, billing, collection, and settlement of over $300,000,000 in property taxes, including tax accounting, reporting, and maintenance of property tax records.
- Oversee day to day operations of the applicable areas of the department. Responsible for decisions related to: Property Tax laws and processes, develops, and implements standards, workflows, and controls to process all calculations, settlements, and reconciliation in compliance with statutes, policies and procedures.
- Maintain official financial records and balances highly complex financial accounts for the county, maintaining a full and accurate record of all account activities and regularly reporting on results.

Requires:- Equivalency of a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, or a directly related field and five years of related experience in property tax and taxpayer services administration or land management fields.
- A reliable form of transportation for the performance of work responsibilities.
Desired: - Strong analytical skills and in-depth experience.
- Knowledge of property taxation-oriented computer software programs.
Incumbent to complete Department of Revenue (DOR) courses Assessment Laws and Procedures with Ethics (ALP) and Mass Appraisal Basics within two years of hire and obtain DOR Property Tax Certification within one year of hire.
