What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Scout’s integrated enterprise-wide Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management System, incorporating multiple business units, geographical locations and disciplines
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential environmental, health, and safety hazards. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure all employees are aware of and understand the Management System roles and requirements
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and ensure that the Management System remains compliant with applicable laws, regulations, corporate commitments, as well as emerging best practices
- Actively engage stakeholders from EHS and other functional groups to ensure the greatest level of buy-in and compliance
- Implement a robust system for monitoring and measuring key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Work with corporate counterparts to determine timing and strategy to achieving ISO 14001, 45001, 50001 and other management system certifications as required
- Source and identify digital solutions for collecting, organizing, analyzing, reporting EHS data
- Assist in the production of reports meeting various business needs.
- Conduct periodic audits to verify adherence to the system's requirements, communicate program health, and identify opportunities for improvement
- Employ a document control strategy and oversee changes in the management system
- Develop, track and control applicable operating budgets
- Other duties as assigned by the Director, EHS
Location & Travel Expectations: the responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. The role will initially be based out of a Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC. Applicants should expect that the role may require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and be able to travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. Professional certification preferred (e.g. CEP, CSP, ISO14001 Lead Auditor)
- 12 years’ experience in EHS with a minimum of 5 years in EHS program and project management.
- Proven experience developing and implementing EHS Management Systems, preferably in compliance with ISO14001, ISO45001, and/or ISO50001
- Adept at establishing new standards, processes and controls in a fast-paced, startup environment
- Strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations and best practices. Subject matter expertise as an EHS professional in manufacturing, automotive or advanced manufacturing industries preferred.
- Extensive background in operational and organizational standards such as ISO, VPP, ANSI and others
- Working knowledge of digital EHS solutions and other related platforms (Benchmark, Cority, VelocityEHS, etc)
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, succinct manner
- Experience conducting/supporting internal audits and managing external audits
- Excellent computer and systems knowledge, including Microsoft Office365 and Project

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range: $150,000 - $180,000
