This position is On-site at our Manufacturing Facility in Littleton, CO
POSITION PURPOSE
The Quality Engineer (QE) will work in conjunction with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Service to ensure products comply with safety and quality standards. The QE is responsible for conducting receiving inspection, FAI, finished good inspection, diagnosing causes for electrical & mechanical malfunctions or failure of operational equipment, evaluating the root cause and implementing corrective actions. The QE will also conduct supplier audits, update PDM system as needed and responsible for quality related activities from new product development to product launch. This position ensures that quality engineering principles are applied throughout the life cycle of a product.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Diagnose the cause of electrical or mechanical failure of a component or product, and provide corrective action plans to eliminate failure. Problem solving in both a manufacturing and engineering prototype environments.
- Work as a technical intermediary between the suppliers, and engineers to answer questions, resolve or mediate issues and help improve the overall cost of quality for all products.
- Work with all stakeholders to determine parts needed for inspection and at what levels or intervals. Develop inspection plans and metrics for completing the inspection of those parts.
- Conduct receiving, in process, FAI, and finished good inspection as part of the daily task.
- Participate in new product design to design transfer; evaluate product acceptance requirements, conduct risk analysis, and other quality related tasks.
- Ability to use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices.
- Participate in LEAN initiative and utilize Six Sigma tools for process improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, support group counterparts, and executives to ensure compliance to external and internal quality standards and to meet quality goals.
- Analyze and make recommendations to help improve quality indices for each department's business processes and programs.
- Work with purchasing, manufacturing, and engineering to maintain PDM and PLM data and ensure accuracy.
- Conduct regularly scheduled supplier audits to ensure compliance per the integrated management system.
- Lead deployment of medium to large-scale projects that are cross-functional in nature and have visibility to company executives.
- Liaison between all SCRAM sites to support ISO compliance.
- Travel may be required domestically and internationally.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Mechanical, Electrical or other Engineering discipline
Strong preference will be given to ASQ Certified Quality Engineers or ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belts
Required Knowledge:
ISO QMS/EMS knowledge
Understanding of a manufacturing and customer service-oriented environment
Knowledge of business process improvement projects
Experience Required:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing with 2 years of experience in quality related engineering with a background.
Skills / Abilities:
Solid communication skills and ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
Ability to work proactively and independently, ability to multi-task and efficient in time management.
Working knowledge of statistical techniques, problem solving techniques and quality management systems
Proficient in quality tools such DMAIC, Six Sigma methodologies, Root-Cause-Analysis, Corrective Actions
Must have ability to scale "ideal-practices" to fit within the budget and headcount constraints of a small company
Experience with tools such as inspection tools such as vision system, caliper, height gauges, etc.
Ability to interpret blueprints.
