Job Description

A leading Industrial services and metals recycling company in the Ohio area is seeking an exceptionally strong Assistant Operations Manager to join their team. Reporting to the General Manager, the ideal candidate will be an exceptional leader with critical thinking capabilities. They will be responsible for overseeing the employees, production, and safety of the yard and will collaborate with management to continuously optimize and improve processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure compliance of all employees with safety requirements, instructions, and best work practices
  • Organize work and ensure that employees understand their duties and responsibilities
  • Ensure employees are adequately trained for their role following Standard Operations Procedures (SOP’s)
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching
  • Undertake disciplinary action if the need arises
  • Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures
  • Meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to meet or exceed efficiency and performance standards
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives

Requirements and Skills:

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, with significant walking and moderate physical activity for large parts of the day
  • At least five (5) years of proven experience working in a heavy industrial setting
  • At least five (5) years' experience managing people
  • Ability to prepare timely, accurate, detailed, and concise reports as required
  • Commitment to working safely and to standards required
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, team oriented, work with minimum supervision and lead by example
