POSITION TITLE: Lab Helper
POSITION SUMMARY:
Seeking a Lab Helper to assist in bench level experiments as part of a team of investigators studying the molecular and cellular mechanisms of brain development and disorders. The newly established group focuses on developing and applying genomic and molecular tools to approach psychiatric disorders and underlying molecular mechanisms (Jin et al, Science 2020). Collectively, our work encompasses many disciplines, including genetics and genomics, computational biology, molecular biology, neuroscience, chemical biology, and bioengineering. Our lab is a fun, vibrant, fast-paced, results-driven, nurturing, and collaborative environment.
Performs basic laboratory maintenance such as glassware washing; autoclaving; media, solution, and buffer prep; replenishes supplies and follows experimental procedures assigned by laboratory staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • participate in team meetings for experimental planning and review
  • perform experiments assigned by lab members
  • document and analyze experimental data
  • troubleshoot, provide oral and written reports of experiments
  • generate constructs, reagents and cell lines
  • genotype and maintain mouse colonies
  • provide support with general laboratory maintenance and compliance with health and safety policies.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained.
  • Some (0-1 years) related experience is highly preferred.
COMPENSATION: $14.00 per hour.
