What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry-Level Engineer position at SCS Engineers?
What we are looking for
We are looking for an Entry-Level Engineer to actively participate in engineering solutions to improve our natural environment. The ideal candidate is someone who wants to grow their career through field experience and collaborative design assistance. You will assist Project Managers with various engineering projects in the solid waste, energy production, and environmental management industries. Remote (at-home) work flexibility will be extended to this position.
How you can make an impact
In the field:
- Provide construction observation and documentation to ensure compliance with construction documents:
- construction material sample collection
- laboratory data management
- surveying
- travel may be required depending on job location
- Perform environmental sampling, monitoring, and data collection
In the office or working from home:
- Assist in developing environmental compliance reports
- Prepare calculations and reports for design documents
- Assist with the design and permitting of waste management facilities, including landfills, transfer stations, compost facilities and material recovery facilities
- Coordinate work with contractors, subcontractors, laboratories, and regulators
- Prepare reports, proposals, bid documents, health & safety plans, and other documents
- Perform CAD drafting (Use AutoCAD and Civil 3D software to develop drawings) and/or coordinate with CAD drafters to provide design plans and figures
- Research technical data and regulations
- Pursue technical improvement for self and company
- Participate in health and safety training
Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science degree in engineering required
- Minimum of 3 months relevant environmental and/or engineering internship, work and/or research experience required.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and lift/carry up to 50 pounds required
- Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required
- AutoCAD, modeling programs or other technical software preferred
- Must be able to travel overnight 50%-70% of the time
