What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technician position at SCS Engineers?
What we are looking for
SCS is seeking a full-time environmental technician for our Overland Park office. Environmental technicians work with scientists and engineers on a variety of municipal solid waste landfill, electric utility, brownfield redevelopment, and chemical/petroleum spill projects.

- Groundwater monitoring
- Landfill gas monitoring
- Landfill cap and liner construction quality assurance (CQA)
- Vapor monitoring
- Field note preparation
- Reporting
- Surveying
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in an environmental field preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience preferred
- Completion of (or willingness to complete) a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training required
- Solid technical, mechanical, and computer skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required
- Ability to perform fieldwork including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods of time required
- Valid drivers license with a driving record in good standing required
- Ability to travel overnight for work outside of the SCS office, extended out of town fieldwork is required
