We have an exciting Systems Engineer opportunity in our Merriam, KS office. The Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the user community through the implementation, maintenance, and upkeep of the servers/cloud platforms/services/applications they use. The System Engineer II reports to the Platform Engineering Manager and works closely with IT staff, management, and end users. The successful person brings a can-do attitude and positive energy every day and is prepared to communicate with all levels of employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead team and small cross functional/departmental projects. Coordinates the successful execution of project activities. Assists and develops project presentations. Presents to technical groups.
- Evaluates and responds appropriately to customer issues and requests. Handles basic to moderately complex issues without assistance. Escalates when necessary to appropriate team, individual, or vendors to resolve.
- Manage a secure and stable server, storage, virtualization, backup, database services, and cloud platform environments throughout the organization and provide metrics to measure performance/capacity/availability and drive improvements.
- Maintain a stable Microsoft 365 tenant organization wide supporting multiple divisions for services that include but are not limited to Active Directory, M365, and other unified communication and collaboration solutions.
- Provides knowledge, training, and solution sets to first level support teams to improve first call resolution and increase customer satisfaction. Reviews issues to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
- Managing and maintaining a Public Key Infrastructure and all certificates, ensuring they are up-to-date and comply with security standards and protocols.
- Maintaining and enhancing accurate documentation steps for installation, maintenance, and configuration activities. Maintains platform related inventory and other hardware/software/license tracing documentation.

- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any task.
- Develop, implement, and maintain disaster recovery strategies and solutions, including backup and restore procedures.
- Manage and optimize our cloud infrastructure and multiple SaaS solutions to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support, responding promptly to service interruptions or technical problems that may arise, ensuring minimal downtime through a team on-call rotation.
- Other duties may be added and/or assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Computer Programming
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of computer systems, systems utilities and tools used to install, configure, and maintain operating and/or network systems, systems software, and hardware.
- 5 years of IT system/infrastructure support and troubleshooting required.Advanced understanding of Microsoft Server operating systems (2012/2016/2019/2022.
- 5 years of Microsoft 365 support experience, including Exchange, EndPoint Manager (InTune), OneDrive, and Teams. Thorough Active Directory (Sites and Services, Replication, Functional levels, Trusts, etc.) understanding and ability to apply this knowledge in a multi-domain and multi-forest environment.
- Advanced knowledge of VMware infrastructure components (vCenter, ESX, SRM, vROPs/Aria, etc.)
- 5 years of experience with infrastructure technologies including servers, storage, hypervisors, infrastructure monitoring, disaster recovery, and backups along with vendors in the space preferred.
- Excellent troubleshooting/problem solving and documentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Self-directed with the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python, batch)
- Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wireshark)
- Solid Cloud experience (AWS preferred)
- One or more of the following certifications: MCSE, M365 Certified Associate (M365CA), Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate (MCAAA), AWS Solutions Architect Associate, VCP-DCV
SCHEDULE
- Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM, The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
