POSITION QUALIFIES FOR A $2,000 SIGN-ON BONUS
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position performs the maintenance and minor repairs of the company’s harbor mobile cranes. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Minimum two (2) year of experience in maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and operations of mobile harbor cranes.
- Knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures involved in maintenance repairs.
- Effective analytical skills and the ability to identify problems quickly.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak basic English.
- Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as needed.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative.
- Posses organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors and fellow employees.
- Ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions.
- Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary
- Assist with the maintenance of the company’s harbor mobile cranes.
- Assist with various diagnostics and repairs to the Liebherr cranes.
- Assist in troubleshooting the harbor mobile cranes’ fuel, hydraulic and electrical systems, and diesel engines.
- Perform routine checks prior to each crane being used for loading and unloading vessel operations.
- Operate the cranes to transport them through the yard as needed for the vessel operations.
- Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards and maintain an awareness of surrounding (i.e. vehicles, equipment, etc.) at all times.
Secondary
- Assist with the maintenance and minor repairs to the company’s fleet.
- Fix and/or replace lights on all vehicles and power industrial trucks.
- Perform minor body work and finish to the fleet.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Subjection to physical and/or DOT Screening may be required along with other tests as applicable.
- The employee is continuously required to stand, walk, reach forward and grasp.
- The employee is continuously required to talk and hear.
- The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, bend forward, squat, exercise repetitive wrist motion, finger dexterity, and use eye-hand coordination.
- The employee is occasionally required to kneel, crawl, twist, reach overhead, exercise repetitive foot motion, pinch, and use eye-hand-foot coordination.
- The employee is frequently required to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, push and pull up to 10 pounds, and occasionally required to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives direct supervision from the Power Mechanic’s Manager. Does not exercise supervision over the Power Shop Department and/or any other department.
CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed primarily in the shop/outdoors; exposed to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind and high humidity during day and night shifts.
- The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
- Moderate vibration though hands when using power tools and throughout body when operating power industrial equipment.
