Summary:
Seagen is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual who will be responsible for managing and leading cross-functional strategic planning and execution for priority early-stage and/or late-stage development program(s). This position will partner closely with cross-functional teams to plan and advance assets through decision gates from pre-clinical through IND, into early clinical development, and eventually into late-stage development, launch, and commercialization. The Director will report to the Sr. Director, Program & Portfolio Management.
Responsibilities:
- Work in close partnership with program and functional teams providing program management and strategic thought partnership to Product Team Leaders on product strategy and operational execution of tactics
- Drive planning for key drug development stage-gate decision points; guide teams through creation, governance approval, and execution of product strategies and integrated project plans appropriate to the phase of development and complexity of the program
- Develop and implement stage-appropriate and value-added processes, best practices, and tools (integrated timelines, TPPs, stage gate process, governance, core & sub team processes)
- Develop, maintain and manage high-quality, integrated project plans to drive forward planning and program reporting to support effective decision making and improve decision quality
- Leverage strong project and organizational knowledge, leadership, and facilitation skills to optimize team meetings and drive effective governance and decision making
- Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to coordinate, influence and advise on strategic and operational efforts to ensure alignment and seamless execution of the asset strategy
- Ensure effective and consistent execution of projects and resolution of issues. Proactively identify and manage critical path issues and challenges, drive program risk management including facilitation of mitigation and contingency planning for key program risks
- Establish a close partnering relationship with functional teams, program, and alliance managers to ensure strategic and operational alignment and facilitate efficient program execution
- Drive program planning and project management, including cross-functional resource planning, financial, due diligence, and capacity assessments
- Build and leverage relationships and networks to improve and enhance team dynamics; proactively identifying opportunities and removing obstacles to drive business results
- Manage a team of program managers
- Partner with Portfolio Management Leadership to improve ongoing program reporting and governance; define and track program metrics to enhance portfolio management and team performance
- Advance program best practices and contribute to the operational excellence of program management function with a focus on continuous improvement
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience, with 5 years of experience in global cross-functional drug development and early-stage program management preferred
- Drug Development knowledge with understanding of other functions relevant to the position which may include Research, Preclinical, Clinical, Manufacturing, Commercial and Regulatory
- Excellent business acumen, demonstrated ability to align teams to strategy to achieve business and project objectives
- Experience leading and facilitating project team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision making, and ensuring ongoing alignment with internal/external stakeholders
- A proactive and strategic thinker, with strong facilitation, problem-solving and issue resolution skills
- Proven staff management and mentoring experience and skills
- Highly collaborative with outstanding communication and relationship management skills, high emotional intelligence
- Adaptive leadership style and ability to influence teams without formal authority
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed global organization
- Experience in biologics and oncology, experience working with alliance partners and in research collaborations is desirable
- PMP credential and experience with latest PM tools, software, and processes highly valued
- Independent, motivated, team member with experience in a matrix environment
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree (MS, MBA, Ph.D.) in biomedical sciences, business or other discipline related to drug development highly preferred

The hiring pay range for this position is $196,000 - $253,000 per year based on skills, education, and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
