Description
Our goal at SeaQuest is to ensure guests have a one-of-a-kind experience interacting with animals from all over the world. SeaQuest is looking for new team members to join our Bird/Reptile/Mammal Husbandry Team who will enhance the guest experience by creating a warm, inviting, and energetic environment throughout the aquarium! We are seeking animal-loving individuals who will dedicate themselves to the care of our birds, reptiles, and mammals under this division.
Bird/Reptile/Mammal Husbandry Team Member Responsibilities:
- Oversee the health of animals within the zoo and monitor their eating and sleeping habits
- Educate visitors about animals within the zoo including their preferred diets and natural habitat
- Tend to the specialized care of various species including trimming nails, bathing coats, and cleaning teeth
- Observe animal's behavior to ensure timely and prompt care should problems arise
- Interact with guests
- Maintain and clean animal enclosures and ensure a safe and secure habitat
- Train and handle various species while considering the best practices in interacting with each animal
- Bath and groom animals
- Feed and care for various species
- Provide enrichment for various species
Requirements
Bird/Reptile/Mammal Husbandry Team Member Requirements:
- Experience working with birds/reptiles/mammals
- Must be able to work all shifts - AM, PM, and weekends
- Must also be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
- Willingness to learn and master husbandry procedures
- An optimistic, positive, and cheerful outlook is necessary
- customer service experience is a must
Education:
- A degree in the related field is preferred but not necessary
