What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquarist position at SeaQuest?
Our goal at SeaQuest is to ensure guests have a one-of-a-kind experience interacting with animals from all over the world. SeaQuest is looking for new Team Members to join our Marine Husbandry Team who will enhance the guest experience by creating a warm, inviting, and energetic environment throughout the aquarium! We seek animal-loving individuals who will dedicate themselves to the care of our aquatic animals under this division. Compensation: $12.00 - $14.00 an hour plus bi-weekly and monthly bonuses
Marine Husbandry Team Member Responsibilities:
- Interact with guests.
- Maintain fresh and saltwater aquariums.
- Interact with guests.
- Monitor the health of fish and administer any medications necessary.
- Clean and maintain all filtration components and equipment.
- Test and maintain proper water parameters.
- Prepare food portions and feed fish, invertebrates, and coral.
- Lead Educational/Interpretive Guided Tours for schools, birthday parties, and other groups.
- Must be flexible and understand that your job duties may change from time to time and that you may be asked to help in other areas.
Marine Husbandry Team Member Requirements:
- Experience with keeping saltwater aquariums and invertebrates preferred.
- Possess knowledge of disease recognition, daily tropical fish aquarium husbandry, food preparation, nutrition, and water quality preferred.
- Must be able to work all shifts - AM, PM, and weekends.
- Must also be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
- Willingness to learn and master husbandry procedures.
- An optimistic, positive and cheerful outlook is necessary.
Education:
- A degree in a related field is preferred but not necessary.
