Marine Husbandry Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Marine department’s daily operations to ensure that the team is following the best practices for animal care, safety, and facility maintenance
- Ensure team members are interacting with guests
- Plan, organize and manage the activities of the husbandry staff
- Implement and follow procedures to ensure equipment is operating at the highest standards to maintain the health of our marine animals
- Order and coordinate the arrival of new animals
- Travel to and from the airport
Marine Husbandry Manager Requirements:
- Experience managing comparable mechanical complexity and operating budgets
- Technical facilities management expertise as it relates to building mechanical systems
- Functionally literate in all aspects of systems, physical plant operation, and maintenance including thorough knowledge of pumps, chilled water systems, bioreactors, etc.
- Demonstrate a high level of organization in the workplace
- Be a strong self-motivator
- Effectively communicate information verbally and in writing
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent mentoring, coaching, and people management skills
- Knowledge or willingness to learn about regulated animals
- 3 years previous experience in manager role preferred
Education:
- A degree in the related field is preferred but not necessary
