JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Hold an active certified real property appraiser license in at least one state where UCBI provides services
- Undergraduate degree from a four-year accredited educational institution, or equivalent educational experience
- 200 hours of appraisal specific coursework as specified by the Appraisal Qualifications Board of the Appraisal Foundation for certified general appraisers
- 80 hours of continuing education covering advanced appraisal topics
- Each employee is required to complete all required Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training suitable to his or her position within the company
Experience
- 5 to 8 years of commercial appraisal and consulting experience (including appraisal reviews). 4-5 years of management experience, preferably leading appraisal or appraisal review operations for a lending institution
Technical
- Proficiency in the use of software applications used by UCBI
Analytical
- A thorough understanding of regulatory requirements governing real estate appraisals and evaluations policies, procedures , practices and standards for lending institutions
- An in-depth working knowledge of valuation theories and methodologies for commercial appraisal
- Capable of understanding real estate market conditions and trends for a variety of geographic areas
- Ability to focus on pertinent issues. Does not get mired in marginal or immaterial issues.
- Marshals the necessary information to quickly move to conclusion on assignments

- Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and maintain a sound appraisal and evaluation program for UCBI
- Establish and maintain controls that promote compliance with federal and state appraisal regulations
- Establish and maintain selection criteria and procedures to evaluate and monitor the ongoing performance of individuals who perform appraisals and evaluations
- Maintenance of an adequate panel of qualified appraisers, periodic review of appraiser performance, removal of poor quality vendors and continuously recruiting and qualifying new vendors where needed
- Establish and maintain criteria and procedures that promote the independence of internal order and review procedures
- Establish and maintain a panel of geographically dispersed review officers; provide continuous real estate appraisal training and guidance. Manage quality of reviews by periodic sampling.
- Develop and maintain procedures and establish and maintain appropriate documentation
- Work with business partners and bank customers to resolve conflicts with consultants’ findings and act as resource for real estate technical and regulatory compliance issues
- Maintain regulatory proficiency
- Act as representative for UCBI
- Other duties as assigned
