MARKETING ASSOCIATE
OVERVIEW: Facilitate and project manage a variety of marketing functions across SAM’s Marketing & Communications Division. A particular focus for these efforts is on the museum’s newly promised collection of Alexander Calder works in the Shirley Family Collection. This is a one-year funded position with possibility of renewal.

REPORTS TO: Marketing Project Manager
COMPENSATION: $23.17-$27.81 hourly pay range; 40 hours per week
BENEFITS: Full time employees are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance/LTD/AD&D. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 403b plan. Employees will also receive ten days of sick leave and ten days of vacation leave every year, twelve paid holidays and one floating holiday throughout the calendar year. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage the design and production of a wide range of marketing materials and collateral from start to finish including working with other departments to identify marketing goals, brief the design team on project goals, image acquisition, routing for approvals, rights and reproductions, establishing and maintaining production timelines, and establishing and monitoring project budgets.
Work with design team members on design development, coordinate internal review, work with vendors to secure production estimates and produce finished products.
Work with Marketing Project Manager to plan and execute media placement / ad buying campaigns including negotiating insertion orders and tracking spend.
Support the production of exhibition specific graphics including building graphics and in-gallery experience.
Assist other project managers and design team members with gathering photos, credit lines, logos, copy, delivery info, etc.
Work closely with other members of the MarCom team and with other departments to plan and facilitate museum marketing strategies and campaigns to promote exhibitions and installations for all three museum locations.
Coordinate various meetings; prepare required materials and provide requested follow-up.
Lead the image acquisition process for special exhibitions, working with Curatorial and SAM Collections to identify selected images and facilitate approvals for their use.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
BA/BS in marketing, communications, public relations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four or more years as a project manager within an agency or design firm or within a Marketing/Communications function.
Demonstrated expertise and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management platforms such as Asana/Trello.
Demonstrated experience placing ads and/or buying media placements whether print, broadcast, sponsored email or digital.
Able to take initiative, prioritize multiple competing tasks, and meet deadlines. Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; copywriting, editing, and proofreading experience highly desired.
Able to communicate effectively and project a professional image.
Able to work independently and in a team setting with a high level of initiative, creativity, tact, and professionalism.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Experience working with graphic design teams on print and digital deliverables.
Demonstrated ability to take a proactive approach to problem resolution; strong organizational and time-management skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure: Work areas are inside, in a climate-controlled environment with light-to-moderate background noise.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED FOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Stationary Work: Approximately 80% of time is spent stationary while working at a desk. Balance of time (approximately 20%) is spent moving around the work area, the galleries, and around the city. Occasional extended periods of standing may be required when assisting at Museum events.
Communication: Clear and effective communication with volunteers, donors, members, the public, and co-workers is necessary.
Moving: The ability to move up to twenty pounds on occasion is necessary for moving files, equipment, and supplies. Must be able to regularly position self to access files.
Office Work: Ability to effectively and regularly operate a computer, keyboard, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and printers, and ability to inspect, prepare and use paperwork, files, equipment, and supplies is necessary.
