This position's responsibilities are, under general supervision, to perform a variety of routine office support functions, which may include data and records maintenance, typing, data entry, proofing documents, completing simple calculations, compiling reports, filing and retrieving documents, serving as a receptionist, and operating a variety of office equipment in support of office operations in a school, program or administrative office.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Generally the job requires 75% sitting, 13% walking, and 12% standing. The job is performed under a generally hazard free environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is generally performed in an office environment. May occasionally deal with distraught individuals; potentially exposed to ordinary infectious diseases carried by students; required to shift tasks and priorities; may experience frequent interruptions; may be required to receive, sort, collect, move and position equipment, mail and parcels, materials, and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds. Operating a typewriter, computer and/or standard office equipment requires visual concentration and manual dexterity.

YEARS Of RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of clerical work experience which has included public contact and records maintenance in a computerized environment.
SUBSTITUTION

Essential Functions
- Serves as an office receptionist; answers the telephone; makes appropriate referrals or responds to telephone or in-person inquiries from students, staff, parents, and the public; provides general information to callers or visitors.
- Verifies, records, maintains, and updates data, including student enrollment count data; performs data entry and retrieval; responds to inquiries regarding information, including information extracted from data bases; organizes, maintains and monitors records and files as assigned.
- Types, duplicates, distributes, and compiles information for a variety of documents, including memoranda, forms, reports, bulletins, records, correspondence and related materials; composes routine correspondence; assists with the development of forms and documents as assigned.
- Assists with office activities; follows established guidelines to screen forms and applications; maintains attendance and annual leave records for staff.
- Provides administrative support services for designated staff; schedules meetings and conferences and may make travel arrangements; maintains schedules and calendars; records, types and distributes minutes of meetings.
- Provides backup and peak-load assistance to secretarial and clerical staff assigned; assists with clerical projects and special events as assigned.
- May receive fees and fines from students or staff; monitors accounts; maintains records of receipts; ensures security of funds collected.
- Receives, sorts, and inventories materials; moves, positions, lifts, and carries supplies and equipment; requisitions office supplies, forms and equipment; assists with monitoring expenditures.
- Sorts, date-stamps, collects, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail.
- Administers medication and/or minor first aid to students under the direction of a health care professional (e.g. band-aids, bug ointment, etc.) for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs.
- Performs related duties consistent with the scope of the position.
