Design Assistant

Job description
SEATTLE STAINED GLASS is looking for a Design Assistant to work with our Design Director in creating beautiful works of stained glass art and assist customers in our retail store.

Our ideal candidate would be an artist with a passion for interior design, architecture, decorative arts, and design periods and styles. You would have a keen sense of color and composition, be highly detail-oriented, organized and tech savvy, take direction well yet able to work independently, and be personable with a good sense of humor.

This could lead to a full designer position for the right person.

Job Duties:

Convert hand-drawn sketches to digital patterns using CAD software
Create realistic 2D renderings using sampled images
Design and render 3D images
Research and collect period-style design options
Attend client meetings and take accurate notes
Create client project proposals
Maintain organized glass sample wall
Put away glass samples as needed and keep manufacturer sample sets organized
Design simple windows as directed
Assist with graphic design work occasionally – website and print
Assist retail customers and process payments
Answer the phone, directing calls where needed, and email
Contact vendors to verify material availability
Communicate project details to shop manager and project coordinator
Assist with light cleaning of the office and retail store
Run errands occasionally
Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
One year of applicable college level training in art and design or equivalent experience
Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop and Illustrator
Proficient with CAD software
Highly organized
Self-motivated
Exceptional customer service skills
Preferred:

Working knowledge of design periods and styles
Previous glass experience
Artistic ability – illustration, painting, drawing
