Position Description

Position Summary:

The College of Education at Seattle University is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to serve as the Associate Dean for Operations, Enrollment and Finance. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the college's leadership team, providing strategic guidance and oversight in all areas related to operations, financial management, and administration. The Associate Dean will report directly to the Dean of the College of Education with a dotted line report to the CFO and will collaborate closely with the Associate Provost for Graduate, Online, and Professional Education. The Associate Dean will also collaborate with faculty, staff, and university leadership to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the College of Education.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the college's annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance with university policies.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data, making recommendations for resource allocation and cost-saving measures.
  • Work closely with department heads and program directors to align budgetary needs with academic and strategic goals.
  • Manage the student scholarship process, in collaboration with program directors, and central university units responsible for student awards.

Operational Oversight:

  • Supervise administrative staff and ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the College.
  • Develop and implement efficient processes and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with university departments such as Facilities, Human Resources, and ITS to address operational needs of the College.

Resource Allocation:

  • Assist in the allocation of resources, classroom space, and technology resources for the College.
  • Evaluate resource requests from departments and programs, making recommendations to the Dean.
  • Foster a culture of responsible resource stewardship and efficiency within the College.
  • Strategic Planning and Enrollment Management:
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the College’s strategic plan.
  • Develop and maintain records on annual performance review and other faculty metrics for the College
  • Provide data and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and improvement in collaboration with the Dean, CFO, Provost’s Office, and College leadership team.
  • Maintain and manage College student enrollment and on-time data reports.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant university policies and local, state and federal regulations.
  • Prepare and submit required reports related to finances, operations, and accreditation.
  • Keep abreast of changes in regulations and best practices in higher education administration.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and other College and university leaders to achieve common goals.
  • Communicate financial and operational updates and changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent the College in university-wide meetings and committees as necessary.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, higher education administration, or a related field. An MBA or doctorate is preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management and operations within higher education, with a strong understanding of academic culture and processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in higher education administration.
  • Proficiency in financial management software (Tableau, power BI and Heliocampus and Microsoft Office Suite).

Compensation at a Glance:

Salary Range: $69,500-$104,200

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
