What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special needs instructor position at SEEDs for Autism?

SEEDs for Autism is looking for a special needs educator who wants part time work in a fun and collaborative environment. Overall responsibilities would be to teach, train and motivate students on the autism spectrum ages 14 and up. Our facility is based on continued supports for those individuals who are in transition or have already exited high school. Familiarity in ABA supports and positive reinforcements are needed, and should have classroom experience teaching 14 and older students on the autism spectrum. A background in creating curriculum is necessary, and candidates should be familiar with computers: excel, word, and power point. Creativity goes a long way. This is a perfect job for anyone who wants to still teach without the stresses of a school district. A current teaching certificate is helpful.

Specific Duties:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Teach safety and skills using various tools and equipment
  • Teach and implement Life skills, social skill development and vocational coaching
  • Creating curriculum
  • Do student assessments and paperwork as needed
  • Computer knowledge for teaching and usage

Responsibilities/Qualifications:

  • Work with young adults with different levels of cognitive abilities
  • Ability to multi-task in a high energy environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work with 2 or more students at one time
  • Contribute to building graphic design lessons
  • Knowledge of fundamental layouts, graphics, print, and web design
  • Self-motivated and proactive to helping students meet their goals
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong awareness to the students
  • Strong active listening skills
  • Maintain professional and calm attitude towards students
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
