Eye Surgery Center of Chattanooga is looking for PRN Pre-Op/Post-Op and OR Circulator RNs. We operate M-F and specialize in Ophthalmology and Oculoplastic Surgeries. No on-call, nights or weekends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following:
•Assists in the organization and daily function of the operating room in accordance with established Federal, State, and accreditation standards, as well as facility policies and procedures
•Assists in overseeing patient care activities in the operating room
•Maintains a high standard of safety for patients in the operating room by:
o protecting the patient from injury caused by chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical, and thermal sources and extraneous objects;
o performing accounting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items;
o performing interventions necessary to ensure that the patient’s procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level;
o managing the patient’s specimens in the appropriate manner;
o communicating the patient’s current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care;
o administering medications safely and correctly;
o performing interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection;
o protecting the patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy;
o providing culturally and age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards of practice
•Transfers care as appropriate
•Delegates tasks as appropriate according to the state Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions
•Documents nursing care accurately, completely, and legibly
•Participates in quality review and performance improvement projects
•Participates in the performance appraisal process
•Uses problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members
•Maintains required competencies
•Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information.

• Monitors stock levels, outdated supplies and equipment needs and reports appropriately.
• Ability to operate standard operating room machinery, equipment, autoclaves, washer sterilizer, and patient monitors.

• Good computer skills including use of standard office programs
• Ability to operate standard office equipment
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Current Tennessee RN license; Two (2) years’ operating room nurse experience preferred. IV skills preferred. BLS required; ACLS encouraged. All employees must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States.
