Segrera Associates is working with a dealership chain in South Florida that is looking to hire a Controller. The Controller is a critical leadership position within the dealership, responsible for overseeing all financial operations and ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and the ability to maintain a high level of organization and accuracy. The Controller will work closely with department heads to drive financial performance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial data in accordance with dealership standards.
- Oversee the preparation of operating budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor key financial metrics and provide recommendations for improving profitability and cost control.
Accounting & Compliance:
- Manage all accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, general ledger, and cash flow management.
- Maintain compliance with all tax regulations, including federal, state, and local requirements.
- Ensure all financial records are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
- Conduct audits and support external auditors to ensure regulatory compliance.
Dealership Operations Support:
- Provide financial leadership and support to department heads, particularly the sales, service, and parts departments.
- Assist with inventory management and financial controls over new, used, and service inventory.
- Analyze and improve internal controls and processes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure accurate recording of dealership transactions and manage floorplan financing.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor the accounting team to ensure optimal performance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the finance department.
- Conduct staff training and development to ensure compliance with dealership processes and policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, preferably within the automotive industry or a dealership environment.
- Strong knowledge of dealership management software (DMS), such as Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK Global, or Dealertrack.
- Expertise in automotive financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Salary : $140,000 - $160,000
