Today, Sekisui House has a family of homebuilding brands under its US umbrella SH Residential Holdings, including Woodside Homes in the Western US, Chesmar Homes in Texas, Holt Homes in the Pacific Northwest, Hubble Homes in Idaho, and SHAWOOD in the Southwestern US.
The Assistant Controller will support SH Residential Holdings, as well as the family of homebuilding brands. The role reports to the SVP Treasury and Finance and will assist in managing liquidity, cash, and short-term borrowing and payments. Responsibilities will encompass financial planning, reporting, analysis, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulations, and providing critical support for strategic decision-making. This position demands financial experience, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Help establish and oversee cash management best practices and internal controls of a multilayer consolidating company.
o Support cash forecasting future needs to ensure proper liquidity needs.
o Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements of a multilayer company.
o Assist in the management of accounting, intercompany billings, payroll processing and quarterly reporting requirements.
o Support parent company requirements for internal audit and J-Sox internal control testing.
o Support Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and forecasting platforms to ensure integrity of reporting.
o Conduct thorough variance analysis to pinpoint trends and areas for improvement.
o Formulate comprehensive financial forecasts, including cash flow projects, to facilitate project planning and investment decisions.
o Ensure rigorous compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other pertinent accounting standards.
o Collaborate closely with external auditors and tax professionals during annual audits and tax filings.
o Collaborate closely with management to conceive and execute financial strategies aligned with the company’s overarching objectives.
o Provide valuable financial insights and recommendations to inform strategic decision making.
o Identify and proactively address financial risks associated with projects, implementing effective risk mitigation strategies.
o Support accounting activities to include performing month end closing procedures, recording monthly accounting entries while maintaining the general ledger, produce monthly end reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
o Various other general accounting functions as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
o Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
o 3 years of accounting experience.
o Master’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
o CPA with public accounting background preferred.
o Excellent knowledge of general financial accounting and reporting.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
o Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
o Proficient with managing processes, financial software, developing/sustaining standards, audits, financial analysis with a focus a focus on driving results.
