SeKON is looking for a Software Developer to join our talented and innovative team managing the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) COVID-19 Website. Due to COVID-19, this role will be 100% remote.The CDC’s COVID-19 website was stood up in January 2020 and has grown exponentially since that time. The website is the primary way CDC communicated and disseminates critical health information and guidance. So far, the COVID-19 site has received over 1.3 billion-page views making the site a critical, highly visible part of CDC’s COVID-19 emergency response.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Web Designers and customers to develop or maintain special website features that fall outside the WordPress capability
- Develops, creates, maintains, and writes/codes new (or modifies existing) computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs.
- Work with UX/UI to improve usability of the website based on user feedback
- Integrate various technologies, custom software, supported applications and existing technologies in a way that ensures data integrity, network security, reliable accessibility, and satisfactory application performance.
- Document the additional security system certification requirements per the feedback received by CDC
- Test website applications for security, performance, function, and accuracy and remediate where needed
- Deploying applications that seamlessly work with the WCMS website
- Developing front-end applications using JavaScript frameworks
- Building applications that are integrated into published website pages using Angular, React, and custom JavaScript
- Maintenance of the Self-Checker bot which is a Node.js application
- Design application architecture for top performance and security
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in a technology field with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Strong problem-solving skills along with outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment
- Strong skill and ability to organize data and information clearly and present to the client.
- Ability to recommend new and innovative ideas to foster strategic objectives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience writing or maintaining code using JavaScript frameworks, SQL server, Angular, React, custom JavaScript, js
- Ability to pass a background check and hold a Public Trust clearance
- Experience publishing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior CDC experience preferred
- Experienced working on a team using Agile Methodology, including the use of tools such as: GitHub, TFS, and/or JIRA
- Experience using Microsoft Azure is a plus
