Mainframe Migration Specialist

Select Computing, Inc. (SCi) is a privately held full-service provider of information technology solutions.  We have been catering to Fortune 1000 companies and Government Agencies around the United States since 1996.  We are currently seeking an experienced IBM mainframe migration specialist for an IBM mainframe conversion effort.  The IBM mainframe system currently supports multiple financial applications that must be replatformed to SPARK Solaris systems running Oracle, Micro Focus COBOL, and Cold Fusion. Once the migration is complete, the services will transition to an operations and maintenance phase for the remainder of the period of performance.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to an ETL migration team who specialize in EBCDIC to ASCII conversion
• Responsible for gathering and assessing business information needs and preparing requirements, driving requirements through to implementation
• Understand the data sources, current data environment, and collaborate with BI team members and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand data needs
• Enforce code and data extract inspection
• Work with our client to ensure that they understand risks, remediation plans, and target dates are developed and documented
• Leads root cause analysis process when solving problems and recommends solutions
• Assists in the development and documentation of technical artifacts such as system and functional requirements, technical specification documents, and testing scripts
• Works with customers, both internal and external, in support of defects or incidents
• Ensures timely resolution of problems, fixes, and required enhancements once system transitions into O&M phase

Technologies:

• Operating Systems - Mainframe z/OS 2.3, and higher
• Languages - Enterprise COBOL, Assembler, REXX, Java for MVS, C++, CICS
• Database - DB2/IMS, Relational Database Design, Administration, Performance & Tuning, Structured Query Language
• Hardware - IBM Z13, IBM Disk DS8886, IBM Virtual Tape (VTS) 7760
• Software - MVS, TSO/ISPF, JES2, Sysplex, VSAM, DB2 Utilities, Print Support, CICS, DB2, JCL, Jobtrac, DFHSM, CA1, Sams Disk • Network TCP/IP, Managed File Transfer (MFT)

Experience

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years’ experience in one or more technical disciplines, or equivalent experience
• Must have prior experience with migrating and modernizing workloads from mainframe environments to UNIX/Linux systems
