Medical Director – Part Time
Seeking a Part Time/Contract Medical Director for our adult, outpatient Methadone and Buprenorphine treatment Center. Sellati & Co., Inc has been providing outpatient Opioid Treatment Therapy in Virginia and North Carolina for over 20 years. Position requires 8-10 hours onsite and be available for occasional, short phone consultation during clinic hours. Schedule is flexible, early morning hours.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
- Admits patients to program
- Signs all verbal orders, performs histories and physical exams, and orders labs/EKGs/Chest X-rays as required. Interprets labs and EKGs in a timely manner.
- Prescribes methadone “blocking dosages to patients that result in each patient reaching a point of stability by alleviating cravings for drugs and other withdrawal symptoms, adjusts medication doses when needed and monitor the patients overall medical status throughout the program.
- Possession of DATA (Drug Addiction Treatment Act) 200 waiver or in process of obtaining waiver to prescribe Suboxone/Buprenorphine to appropriate patients preferred.
- Provides outpatient medical oversight for patients who have substance use disorders.
- Supervise dispensing nurses and mid-level providers (e.g. physician assistants, nurse practitioners.
- Participates in state and federal audits – devise corrective action plans and approve the corrective action plans of staff.
- Approves and signs treatment plans, initial assessments, and annul justifications.
- Refers patients when needed.
- Supervise mid-levels admitting and maintaining patients in the MAT program.
- Ensures compliance with the requirements of the DEA, CARF, DBHDS regulations.
- Provide medical oversight and guidance to the multidisciplinary team.
- Monitor policy and procedures as relates to medical guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited medical school or school of osteopathic medicine; prefer a board certified Addictionologist, or psychiatrist.
- One year experience working in the field of Substance Use Disorder with some work history in Methadone Maintenance Treatment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to clear a background check at the time of hire
- Willingness to allow mid-levels to be under medical license.
