We are seeking a motivated, hard-working individual, to join our team in the position of Assistant Controller. In this role, you will work directly with the Corporate Controller and have management responsibilities for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Accounting. This position assists in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, audits, bank reconciliations, and variance reporting in addition to other accounting responsibilities. This position has high visibility with the opportunity for growth and advancement.
The Assistant Controller will primarily be focused on:
- Assist with the preparation, review, and presentation of financial statements.
- Ensure month-end is closed accurately and meets established deadlines and standards.
- Compare current financial statements to the applicable previous period and to the budget to identify and explain variances and trends.
- Assist with the management of accounting, auditing, and budgeting
- Assist in the preparation of reports needed to complete tax returns.
- Direct daily activities of A/P, A/R, analysis, and other accounting activities.
- Review and recommend accounting processes improvements including establishing enhanced internal controls as necessary
- Ensure that use tax payments are completed timely.
- Review all posted transactions for accuracy
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries
- Prepare bank reconciliations
- Reconcile and maintain schedules for G/L accounts
- Fixed Asset accounting and maintenance of the Fixed Asset Ledger
- Assist the Corporate Controller in preparing for the annual financial audit and periodic insurance company audits
- Interact with other departments throughout the Company and represent the Accounting Department on interdepartmental teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Solid knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles
- Sound knowledge of accounting and financial processes (closing, budgeting, reporting, etc.)
- Excellent computer skills including proficient use of MS Office
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work in a team environment
- Detail-oriented with great prioritization and organizational skills
