Job Summary:

The HR Manager position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management at UCT. The position serves as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues. The successful HR Manager acts as an employee champion and change agent. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and business management, the HR Manager seeks to develop integrated solutions. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HR Manager maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing HR services to site location(s).
  • Develops recruiting strategy for open positions, working with hiring managers to identify candidates through a variety of sources
  • Conducts new hire orientation; trains new employees as required on self-service HR tools.
  • Interfaces with UCT corporate HR, payroll and benefits administrators regarding benefits issues; assists employees with issues as required.
  • Implements benefit plans and other corporate initiatives
  • Conducts employee and manager training on a variety of topics
  • Provides guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations and other HR issues
  • May conduct employee survey, climate sensing and other interventions
  • Coordinates termination and reduction in force activities
  • Acts as resource to local activities committee; may assist in planning employee events
  • Works on special projects in support of the HR organization
  • Must have HRIS experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interface effectively and establish trust with employees, managers, and groups at all levels in the company
  • Strong sense of ethics and confidentiality with regard to employee and business issues
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with line managers
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office suite, particularly Excel) HRIS experience
  • Attention to detail and exceptional follow-up skills
  • Working knowledge of employee benefit plans
  • Training and group facilitation skills
  • Bi-Lingual a plus - Chinese

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business/equivalent, PHR/SPHR certification preferred

Experience Requirement:

Work Experience:

    • 7 years HR Generalist experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Management Experience:

    • 3 years HR Management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

    • Work may require out of town travel depending upon assignment (training and meeting).
