Position Summary:
Semper Solaris is looking for an organized and motivated Solar Battery Apprentice for our Solar Operations department. The Battery Apprentice will perform a wide variety of electrical operations duties. The ideal candidate will be motivated, dedicated, and a team player. In addition, the ideal candidate will have high attention to detail and a genuine care to his/her craftsmanship.
Responsibilities:
Semper Solaris is looking for an organized and motivated Solar Battery Apprentice for our Solar Operations department. The Battery Apprentice will perform a wide variety of electrical operations duties. The ideal candidate will be motivated, dedicated, and a team player. In addition, the ideal candidate will have high attention to detail and a genuine care to his/her craftsmanship.
Duties:
- Service electrical systems that interconnect our solar array to the grid power of our customer's residential property
- Work with the Operations Manager, Battery Foreman and homeowners to fulfill any necessary electrical work to support our solar or battery equipment
- Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches
- Assist and perform on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and test tasks
- Diagnose electrical errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
- Prepare materials for projects
- Install battery storage equipment (Including batteries, microgrid interconnection devices, disconnects, current transformers, etc)
- Install conduit and wiring in compliance with NEC and local codes and in a professional workmanship manner
- Assist and perform diagnostic for electrical errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
- Other tasks and duties as needed
Requirements:
- Must have a minimum 2 years' experience in residential electrical
- Knowledge of solar industry and NEC code
- Ability to work independently and with minimal direction/oversight
- Must complete and graduate Semper Solaris Battery Training Course
- Complete other duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail a must
- Good problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize work and work under sensitive time restraints
- Exceptional customer service and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time
- Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on telephone
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs regularly, and be comfortable with heights of at least 20 feet and walking on all roof types
- Able to work in various weather conditions and in extreme temperatures
- Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly
Rate: up to $40.00 per hr. ( additional $3/hr. w/ Journeyman card)
