The New York State Senate Printing Facility seeks a disciplined individual with a sound knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and a sharp eye for detail. This position is located in Albany in the Editing/Proofreading Unit.

Duties Description
The Editing/Proofreading Unit is responsible for two main functions:
Cross training is important in this environment, as Writers must often proof and Proofers are often required to write, depending on the needs and requests of Member offices or other Senate offices. As many jobs go through multiple rounds of changes, Writers/Editors/Proofreaders must be adept at all Proofing Unit responsibilities, working alongside Graphics, and also reviewing press proofs to ensure accuracy after a job has moved into the Print Shop. All of these titles must also be confident in their interactions with Member offices in writing, proofing, and completing proclamation requests.
- Maintaining accuracy of the printed word, e.g., proofing and editing, as it relates to all pieces generated by Member/Senate offices and printed at the Senate Printing Facility. These pieces fall under many categories and styles (banners, signs, posters, brochures, newsletters, mailers, laser letters and special projects).
- Interacting directly with Member offices that request proclamations, as well as, writing, editing, proofing, and coordinating the printing of those proclamations.

Additional Comments
Salary range is $38,000 to $42,000, commensurate with education and experience.
