What does the job involve?
Summary: Operates numerical control lathe machine on routine and repetitive operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:
- Operates numerical control lathe machine on routine and repetitive operations.
- Make minor adjustments during operations.
- Checks parts to pre-set gauges and dimensions.
- Makes minor adjustments or reports trouble for correction if machine functions improperly or parts are not holding to required dimensions.
- Performs rework or other operations where duties are essentially the same or of a less difficult nature.
- Follow all Senior policies and procedures.
- Other duties with the work as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skills:
- Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply a general understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Mathematical Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Other Abilities: Some prior experience in drilling, reaming, and deburring. Must be able to hold ± .010 tolerance.
Tools used:
- Precision instruments such as micrometers, dial gauges, verniers, scales, etc. Numerical control lathes, attachments, and accessories.
Materials used:
- Ferrous and non-ferrous metals, coolants, cutting oils and holder inserts.
