Activities Director

Summary:

1. Develop, post, and execute a comprehensive activities calendar for the residents.
2. Decorate and maintain decorations for holidays in the building.
3. Plan, coordinate, and execute at least 2 community activities per year.
   1. To include residents and their families as well as the public.
4. Oversee and assist with driving residents for weekly outings, according to the calendar.
5. Set up for, invite residents to, and host monthly resident council.
6. Attend monthly manager meeting to update management team on upcoming events and needs of the department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• The activities Director responsible for planning, setting up, and executing a successful recreation program for the residents. These activities should include experiences that are
  • Educational,
  • Geared toward exercise
  • Promote Self-Expression
  • Any other activities that offer growth experiences

The program should reflect what is best for the residents and take into account their likes and abilities as well as their differences in culture and age. At least two activities a year should be planned for involvement of the outside community. This is meant to act as an “open-house” to draw attention to the facility.

The director should be able to communicate with the Executive Director and address needs as they arise. The activities director will be responsible for any reports necessary or required by the state health department, in regard to the activity department.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Will be required to drive an 18 passenger bus
• A college degree and/or related experience with the elderly and recreation is preferred, but not required
• Must present a neat and clean appearance
• Must have an updated T.B. test as required by State regulations
• Must be current in First Aid and CPR
• Must be able to pass a background check through the DACS system (Utah Department of Health)
  • Can Not have a history of Elder Abuse or a Felony police record
• Must complete all required forms for employment at Apple Tree Assisted Living

Must be able to speak, write, and read English
