Role Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Program Director to oversee our year-round Youth Development Centers, which include after-school, holiday, and summer camp programs. The Assistant Program Director will serve as the point person in the Program Director's absence, ensuring engaging and educational activities are provided. Key areas of focus include Academic Support, Leadership Development, STEM, Literacy, Healthy Living, and Physical Recreation. The role also involves ensuring compliance with all relevant protocols and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Program Administration: Assist in the daily management of after-school, holiday, and summer camp programs.
- Staff and Participant Supervision: Support program development and supervise staff and participants.
- Data Management: Maintain attendance, participant information, and program schedules in the after-school database.
- Policy Enforcement: Ensure adherence to program expectations, policies, and protocols as established by the Program Director.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Program Director and School Principal to provide comprehensive services and meet program expectations.
- Event Organization: Assist with recruitment events and organize special events such as talent shows, awards, and parent meetings.
- Communication: Report any issues or modifications to the Program Director, lead monthly staff meetings, and contribute to bi-monthly “Rockstar Meetings”.
- Safety and Compliance: Conduct monthly fire drills, ensure staff compliance with Department of Health (DOH) regulations, and maintain daily food records.
- Support and Training: Coach Educational Specialists, Activity Specialists, Senior Group Leaders, Group Leaders, and Volunteers. Complete a minimum of 15 hours of SACC training per fiscal year.
- Miscellaneous: Maintain office equipment, manage inventory, and handle other duties or special projects as assigned by the Program Director.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience: At least three years of experience working with youth (elementary or middle school experience preferred) and one year of experience supervising staff.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
- Preferred: Experience with middle school youth and diverse backgrounds, knowledge of youth development principles such as Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and the ability to motivate participants in key activity areas.
- Requirements: Flexibility to attend occasional morning, evening, or weekend meetings and trainings. Commitment to a strength-based and youth development perspective. Ability to maintain confidentiality and pass all required background checks and clearances.
