Position Description

The Lean Manufacturing Workflow Manager is responsible for the efficient, safe and packing of produce. You will be responsible for overseeing 20-30 packing and distribution staff, ensuring that goods are packed correctly and in time for distribution. The Lean Manufacturing Workflow Manager is responsible for meeting designated production targets, in collaboration with Operations, Sales, and Quality Assurance.   

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for packing department processes/procedures to promote continuous improvement.  
  • Manage the departmental budget.  
  • Responsible for filling customer orders on time and strict specifications. 
  • Responsible for tracking incoming/outgoing order and inventory control. 
  • Work with sales and manufacturing to address customer complaints/improvements and new packaging development. 
  • Manage department to meet production schedules, quality standards, cost and on-time delivery objectives. 
  • Demonstrate sound business acumen in planning orders, implementing food quality standards, developing food production schedules, and managing packaging leads.  
  • Create and maintain SOPs.  
  • Assist operations to ensure compliance of local, provincial, and federal regulatory environmental, safety and health, and food safety standards.  
  • Monitor and implement GMP, HACCP, SOP, CIP and Safety Procedures for Sanitation, Production and Packaging personnel.  
  • Develop, create, implement packaging records for the Packaging Process to be GMP compliant.  
  • Create and implement lot number production on finish good cartons immediately without impacting customer delivery to be GMP compliant.  

Required Skills, Abilities and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing a packing and production line. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant food safety experience  
  • Ability to develop food safety SOPs  
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management. 
  • HACCP certification 
  • Expert proficiency in MS Office  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  

Preferred Skills, Abilities and Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish, a plus. 
  • Additional food safety training will be considered an asset (PCQI, PSR)  
  • Six Sigma Certification or similar 
  • Experience with NetSuite or other ERP systems  

Educational Requirements

  • Degree in Business, Industrial Management, Food Science, Biology or a related discipline or relevant experience.
