Business Analyst

Location Note: This a hybrid role for our Wakefield, MA office.

As a Business Analyst at Sentinel, your role is pivotal in driving the success of your assigned business unit. You will play a key part in team collaboration, data analysis, and the software engineering process, ensuring that our custom applications and automation align seamlessly with business strategy and objectives.

While this role reports into the centralized IT team structure, our business analysts are assigned to different business units across the firm to provide expertise and to ensure their success.

What you'll bring to Sentinel:

• Leverage strong analytical skills to generate meaningful insights through data analysis, contributing to informed decision-making
• Act as a bridge between your business unit and the Software Engineering team, fostering effective communication and synergy between cross-functional teams.
• Take ownership of custom applications and automation as the Product Manager/Owner, ensuring they meet the specific needs of your Business Unit

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Actively participate in team meetings, chat channels and team-building activities to stay connected with your business unit.
• Conduct ad hoc data analysis and generate reports to provide valuable insights for strategic decision-making.
• Play a vital role in the development process, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals
• Serve as the main contact for your assigned business unit and the Software Engineering team, facilitating effective communication and understanding between teams.
• Engage with the Business Analyst team bi-weekly to share insights, discuss challenges and enhance team collaboration.
• Contribute to the determination of firm-wide priorities, aligning initiatives with the overarching goals of the organization.
• Manage custom applications and automation related to your assigned business unit, acting as the Product Manager/Owner.
• Be the first contact for errors related to custom development, addressing and escalating issues as needed.
• Conduct thorough scoping and analysis of system improvements, encompassing both business processes and technology enhancements.
• Perform quality assurance for custom applications and automated jobs to ensure they meet business requirements.
• Provide support for Laserfiche workflows and forms, contributing to small-scale development efforts as needed.
• Provide support for your assigned business unit for Salesforce, contributing to reporting, analysis and small workflows as needed.
• Occasionally participate in deployments and maintenance outside of normal business hours.

About you:

We are in search of a detail-oriented Business Analyst who possesses the initiative, determination and skill set to make significant contributions to Sentinel’s business processes. The organizations landscape is dynamic, and with a dedicated Business Analyst, we aim to enhance our ability to extract meaningful insights and drive informed decision-making.

What you need to have:

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, or related field
• Proven experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Familiarity with project management methodologies.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Nice to haves: Experience with:

• Laserfiche or similar workflow tools is a plus
• Salesforce is a plus
• Reporting tools (Crystal Reports, SSRS) is a plus
• Experience with writing MS SQL queries is a plus
