Compensation: $95,000 - $105,000 (Annually)

FLSA: Exempt

LOCATION/HOURS

This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our New York City office. It is expected that some duties will be performed on-site at least 2- 3 days a week, and some remotely, with the understanding that government and public health guidelines will help determine the extent to which it is safe to carry out in-person and onsite activities.

All candidates must be within commutable distance of SEO’s offices at 55 Exchange Place, New York, NY 10005, at the time of hire.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Associate Director is responsible for overseeing the success of 10th and 11th Grade programming, including academic advising, standardized test preparation, summer enrichment programming, and mentoring, as well as the oversight of psychosocial supports provided to all Scholars. The Associate Director leads a team of two Assistant Directors (10th and 11th Grade), Senior Manager of Mentoring, Manager of Enrichment Programs, and Senior Manager of Student Services. This position reports to the Senior Director, High School Scholars.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Oversight

Ensure the success of 10th and 11th grade SEO Scholars core programming implementation and development of SEO Scholars after school, Saturday and Summer Academy programming.
Manage data-driven outcomes for all aspects of 10th and 11th-grade programming, including, assignment completion, attendance, SAT scores, mentoring, and enrichment programs.
Support the development of content and best practices for 10th and 11th-grade non-academic programming including Opening Circles, Program Manager Hours, etc.
Create comprehensive measures of success for programming and evaluate the tracking, management, and analysis of all data, including attendance, assignment completion, and student engagement.

Summer Enrichment Programming, Test Prep, Mentoring

In coordination with the Manager of External Programs, ensure all Scholars participate in Summer Enrichment Programming.
In partnership with an external vendor, ensure all Scholars successfully complete the test preparation including coordination of SAT classes and practice to maximize scores.
In coordination with the Senior Manager of Mentor Programs, ensure all Scholars are matched with and successfully building relationships with their mentors.
Support partnership creation and management with external partners including test prep provider, Enrichment Program partners, mentors, and other partners.

Student Services

Create, implement, and oversee the process for appropriate psychosocial guidance to all Scholars to ensure that they adhere to program policies and behavioral standards and to support their successful completion of the program.
Support the Senior Manager of Student Services in hiring, onboarding, and training 1-2 MSW interns per year.
In collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer, develop and refine policy to ensure SEO is in compliance with all psychosocial support standards.

Staff Management and Development

Provide 1:1 coaching and development to 10th and 11th grade Assistant Directors, Senior Manager of Mentoring, Manager of Enrichment Programs, and Senior Manager of Student Services to ensure a productive work environment
Create and nurture a positive team collaboration and spirit that encourages intellectual curiosity, and an inclusive, close-knit and supportive community
Develop content for and lead meetings including weekly all-team meetings, and 1:1 check-ins

Other

Serve on the cross functional leadership team
Lead budget oversight and management for programming and student services lines
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, School Counseling, School Psychology, or a related field is strongly preferred. A combined bachelor’s degree and equivalent work experience will be considered.
Direct people management experience with evidence of leading diverse teams to higher performance and consulting on the training and development needs of experienced professionals.
Experience managing complex projects with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Ability to work cross-functionally to support the success of programming.
Experience working with external partners, representing the program, and managing contracts and MOUs.
Direct experience and progressive autonomy in developing, forecasting, and reconciling budgets. Must have sound judgment in nonprofit resource management for grant-funded initiatives and grant reporting.
Experience working with public/private middle or high school students for 4 years preferred.
Demonstrated passion for closing the achievement gap on the high school and college level for first-generation and low-income students.

The compensation listed in this posting reflects what SEO believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting.
