What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employment Training Specialist position at SER - Jobs for Progress, Inc.?

The Employment and Training Specialist (ETS) will be responsible for recruiting and maintaining participants for the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). The ETS will interview, assess and counsel eligible applicants; develop Individualized Employment Plans (IEPs); solicit employment and work training programs for participants; interact effectively with Host Agencies (HAs) and other community organizations; and have other duties as assigned.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct program outreach activities and orientations to senior groups and community agencies.

2. Determine eligibility and complete intake for participant enrollment.

3. Complete initial assessment and develop IEPs for participants.

4. Provide career/ job counseling to participants.

5. Meet and partner with Host Agencies in the service area(s).

6. Monitor the training sites to ensure program compliance.

7. Maintain concise case notes on all interactions with participants.

8. Collect participant timesheets.

9. Develop linkages with community and government resources to assist participants.

10. Assist participants with placement in unsubsidized employment.

11. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Two-year degree in counseling, social work, psychology or a related field preferred; and/or

- Three years of work experience in a counseling environment or any combination of education and experience providing the skills and knowledge for successful performance.

- Must be computer literate and able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

- Possess a valid California driver's license, dependable automobile and adequate auto insurance.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 per hour
