United States Air Force Central Command (USAFCENT) is the Air Force Service Component ofUnited States Central Command (USCENTCOM), a joint Department of Defense combatantcommand responsible for U.S. security interests in 27 nations that stretch from the Horn of Africathrough the Persian Gulf region, into Central Asia. This position supports USAFCENT HistoricalOfficer (HO).
The Historian Organizational Administrator supports the History Office as it collects and organizes 9AF (AFCENT) (including its assigned and attached subordinate units) historical data from all typesof documentation e.g., reports, papers, databases, briefings, emails, spreadsheets, media images,etc. The Administrator will help capture and organize relevant materials affecting 9 AF (AFCENT)produced by higher headquarters. Transfer historically significant unclassified materials to theclassified side (NIPR to SIPR) for use in producing periodic history report. The Administratormanages two of the Historian Office’s programs, Historical Depository and Deployed HistorianProgram.Historical Depository Program: Maintain, organize, and preserve historical files and repositories for9 AF (AFCENT) and its assigned and attached subordinate units. Store materials in appropriatecontainer or electronic-based media based on classification. In consultation with the Air ForceHistorical Research Agency (AFHRA) and office archivist, review repository materials fordowngrade/declassification and mark materials accordingly. Also, in consultation with AFHRA andoffice archivist, if materials are no longer needed, destroy or mail to appropriate agency. Liaisewith AFHRA for 9 AF (AFCENT) and air expeditionary wing (AEW) history report production. Burndiscs and mail history reports for 9 AF (AFCENT) and its assigned and attached subordinate units.Inventory 9 AF (AFCENT) and AEW histories annually to ensure congruence with AFHRA database.Provide regular updates of program status to office chief.Deployed Historian Program: Prepare, plan, organize, and track status of all security andcommunication aspects of deployed historian program, reservist records management programand cadet/ROTC summer program. Responsible for initial contact and completion of requiredpaperwork to build accounts and receive building entry badges commensurate with level ofsecurity clearance. Provide accesses to History Office SharePoint, shared drive files, andorganizational inboxes. Train deployers, reservists, and cadets on its usage. Build award packagecore for individuals for office chief and track award status throughout entire process. Provideregular updates to office chief on all aspects of these programs.
The Administrator will also aid USAFCENT Historian to prepare, plan, organize and track status ofsite visits from researchers including, but not limited to, DoD internal personnel, Washington thinktanks, and private citizens. Process building entry badge requests and, if requests include accessto classified materials, process required paperwork commensurate with level of security clearanceneeded. Provide accesses to History Office SharePoint and shared drive files in accordance withoffice chief’s direction. Train researchers on its usage. Provide regular updates to office chief on allaspects of visits from researchers.Additional tasks and responsibilities required by this position include but are not limited to;
