Position Description
Serco’s Training and Experience Program (STEP) is designed to provide undergraduate university and college students paid accredited internship opportunities to gain meaningful, hands-on work experience in a professional environment. Our goal is to help you build a career roadmap that provides you with challenging and rewarding learning experiences with Serco.
Serco offers internship opportunities across the following three career tracks: Business, Technical, and Engineering. Our 2024 internship opportunities are available throughout the U.S. and Canada, beginning on May 28th and concluding on August 9th, with 1 week off July 1st-5th. You will work with your manager to identify the best working schedule for you, working no more than an average of 36 hours a week with the added perk of half-days on Fridays.
In addition to gaining hands-on experience, you will attend training sessions taught by skilled leaders in our company to better prepare you for a full-time career. Furthermore, we believe great ideas come from all levels of the company! Each year we challenge our interns to work in diverse teams to develop, propose and execute on a project that improves our ways of working. Throughout this project you will work with Senior Sponsors and meet with members of our Executive Team.

Serco offers this exciting internship opportunity on our ES Program, which is responsible for providing support for consumers purchasing health insurance through the Federal Health Insurance Exchanges administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is innovative and passionate about helping fellow Americans gain health care coverage while learning how to improve business process and manage projects. Through this internship, you will both discover your place at Serco this summer and have a lasting impact on our organization and our program. The Business Analytics intern will work a remote schedule.
At Serco, we take seriously our responsibility to ensure the integrity of the ES program while assisting qualified consumers in securing and maintaining their eligibility to enroll in a Qualified Health Plan through the Federally facilitated Exchange. We support the CMS in its mission to provide national leadership in setting and enforcing standards for health insurance that promote fair and reasonable practices to ensure that affordable, quality health coverage is available to all Americans. As the ES Intern, you will assist the Advisory Services Team with administrative and operational duties that support project planning, coordination, execution, and closure.
Over the course of the summer, you will network and interface with critical business leaders to include our Program Manager and members of our Advisory Services Team to help manage high priority, cross-cutting projects related to fast-moving policy changes or program improvements that involves multiple teams, including Service Delivery, Training, Quality, IT and Operations. You will report to Ansley Felix, Product Line Manager, and Research, with over 3 years of experience in federal service implementing health care policy and operations for the private health insurance market prior to joining Serco’s team.
In this role, you will:• Be the Person Association and Document Automation process subject matter expert and support the Mailroom and Application Product Line team as part of the Service Delivery (SD)• Participate in strategy sessions with managers, cross functional teams and/or as directed by the Mailroom and Document Automation Product Line Manager. • Develop/validate requirements, business processes, technical requirements, and perform analysis of operational workflow and metrics, as required• Translate business requirements, using data analysis and metrics to drive the right business outcomes. • Work with Serco technical teams to effectively design, develop, and launch scalable solutions that address consumer needs while meeting high standards for delivery. • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements for your subject matter expert area• Develop and maintain effective and efficient working relationships with other department subject matter expert • Managing competing priorities with a positive resolution and teamwork.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will have:
• Bachelor`s degree in related field from an accredited institution with 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience.• Familiarity with JIRA, Microsoft Suite, and SQL.• Previous Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). • Proven ability to learn quickly, distill complex scenarios into the easily understandable synopses and communicate persuasively, in both written and verbal forms. • Problem solving skills.• Must be able to analyze and document one or more of an organization`s processes. • Must be able to meet with subject matter experts within the organization to gather process information and/or requirements. • Must be able to Design and document new processes and obtains organizational feedback.• Must be able to communicate process flows or requirements to staff for software development efforts or as part of procedural training. • Experience interacting with senior level staff to propose process modifications.• Enjoy working in a collaborative and team environment
