Join the growing Sesame Solar team and help make Mobile Nanogrids that solve big problems for big companies and government agencies, including solar and green hydrogen-powered Solutions for disaster/emergency preparedness and rapid response to extreme weather events (wildfires, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes and storms) that can be setup by one person in less than 15 minutes. Successful candidates care about climate change, respect science, and have at least 5 years of relevant experience, are mechanically skilled, are skilled at metal fabrication and high quality finish work, using shop tools and reading blueprints, make accurate measurements, and perform careful and quality work on time and on budget. They are good team members, safety conscious, great problem solvers, have good oral and written communications skills, and can work well independently as well. They are curious and interested in learning new skills. Those who perform well can advance to other roles in the company. When possible, we prefer to promote from within. Auto body repair, van or trailer conversion, electrical wiring and welding experience are big pluses!
Senior Technician Responsibilities include:
Responsibilities:
- Fabrication:
- Collaborate with Production team to translate designs into detailed fabrication plans.
- Utilize your mastery of welding, cutting, bending, and machining to create high-quality metal parts for our Nanogrids.
- Ensure fabricated components meet precise specifications and contribute to the efficient assembly process.
- Maintain and troubleshoot fabrication equipment, keeping production on track.
- Hydraulics:
- Design, assemble, and install the complex hydraulic systems that power our Nanogrids.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of hydraulic principles to diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Meticulously maintain hydraulic components (pumps, valves, cylinders, tubing) for optimal performance.
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure the long-term reliability of our hydraulic systems.
- General:
- Maintain detailed documentation of all fabrication and hydraulic work performed.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments to streamline project completion.
- Uphold a strong safety culture and adhere to all company safety regulations.
You're the Ideal Candidate if You Possess:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in both metal fabrication and hydraulics.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, seamlessly transitioning between tasks.
- In-depth understanding of mechanical principles and a strong foundation in hydraulic theory.
- Experience with various fabrication techniques, including welding (multiple processes a plus), cutting, bending, and machining.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional quality workmanship.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to tackle technical challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration.
Bonus Points for:
- Experience with electrical wiring and troubleshooting.
- Ability to lift moderate weight (up to 40 lbs).
- Forklift certification.
Other Requirements:
- Background check required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Covid 19 Vaccination required (we offer paid time to get one within 5 days of hire).
Part-time schedule available as well.
