POSITION TITLE: Graduate Assistant – Men’s Basketball

POSITION SUMMARY
Southeastern University, a four-year private, Christ-centered university, located in Lakeland,
Florida is accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant for the Men’s Basketball program. The ideal candidate should possess a personal relationship with Christ. Graduate Assistants are student workers who work in a part-time capacity while pursuing a graduate degree. The position is a two-year commitment with an annual review. Summer camps and recruiting opportunities would be available for supplemental income. Some of the benefits include tuition for the Master's program, meal benefits, and stipend. Past coaching experience and/or playing experience is desired.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education – An earned bachelor’s degree, and acceptance into a Southeastern University Graduate Program
Collaboration – Ability to work with coaches and athletes with diverse backgrounds and perspectives
Communication – Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
Experience - Coaching Experience Preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Maintain and support the policies and procedures approved by Southeastern University.
-Work in conjunction with the head coach of the Men’s Basketball program.
-Assist the head coach with writing schedules, practice duties, all basketball game duties, and help with recruiting and retaining student athletes.
-Develop and run individual workouts for student-athletes.
-Assist in weight room when needed.
-Attend all practices and games.
-Student Culture - As both a graduate student and student worker, GAs must be a leading example of Southeastern's standards for student culture and conduct.
-Fulfill 29 hours a week with the Men’s Basketball program.
-Perform other duties that are common to GA positions or as assigned by the Men’s Basketball program and/or the Athletic Department.
-Summer work is not available.
