Graduate Assistant - Portico Coffeehouse

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: PORTICO GRADUATE ASSISTANT
REPORTS TO: Senior House Manager

The Coffeehouse Graduate Assistant (GA) for Portico Coffeehouse is responsible to the Manager and assists in the management and operations of Southeastern University’s coffeehouse. The GA assists in the training and managing employees of the coffeehouse. Each CGA will hold specific roles in addition to their Barista status, including (but not limited to):
-The planning of special events
-Managing inventory, orders, and relationships with vendors
-Branding and marketing

Relationships
Coffeehouse Manager –Reports directly to the Coffeehouse Manager
Coffeehouse Employee – Trains, manages, and evaluates the employees of the coffeehouse
University Community– As a member of Student Development the GA is charged with the general well-being and success of members of the Southeastern University community.

Essential Functions
Responsible for enforcing organizational policies and standards
Assists in training, managing, motivating, evaluating, and maintaining a team of coffeehouse employees
Assists in planning, promoting, and executing all events and activities associated with the coffeehouse
Ensure the successful completion of all duties and responsibilities of employees
Assists in maintaining the proper inventory
Maintain consistent barista duties
Assist in building shop culture.
Learning and mastering beverage and food menu
Prepares beverage and food orders for customers

Preferred Qualifications
Strong leadership skills with an ability to assist with organizing and motivating employees.
Knowledge of the coffee industry and previous experience in working at a coffeehouse.
Must exhibit self-motivation and discipline in order to regularly set and achieve goals set.
Interpersonal skills with large groups and individuals.
Ability to maintain a high level of excellence and professionalism in all circumstances.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and acceptance into an SEU graduate program (AMBA not permitted for this position).
Available to work 29 hours per week.
